The proposal to get proper information about the seats was sent from the CIDCO Ulwe-1 office to the Planning Department of CIDCO
Navi Mumbai, 9: A few days ago, senior journalist and social activist Atul Shilwant drew the attention of the administration to the strange act of CIDCO not constructing public toilets in Ulwe node in Navi Mumbai. In this regard, Atul Shilwant had written to the Managing Director of CIDCO and the Chief Minister of the state, Eknath Shinde, with a request to construct one public toilet/urinal etc. in each sector of Ulwe node and further he had followed up on this demand from time to time. This pursuit has finally succeeded. It has been officially informed by letter from CIDCO that a proposal has been sent from CIDCO Ulwe-1 office to Planning Department of CIDCO to get proper information about the required space for construction of public toilets/urinals in each sector of Ulwe. After receiving the feedback from the concerned department, further action can be taken in this regard. Executive Engineer of CIDCO ULWA-1 M. V. Walimbe has informed Atul Shilwant about further action through a letter.

On 10 December 2022, Maharashtra Varta published a news about this. On this occasion, Atul Shilwant had said that, “Common citizens of Ulwa are facing big difficulties due to lack of public toilets. In a smart city like Ulwe node, which has a population of approx. 1,68,567 according to the basic information available, lack of public toilets is certainly not desirable. If a man got urine call, he can look around the corner and can urinate easily, but what about women? Where should they go? If there is an emergency situation for the women going out from home for work or school-college, they have no choice. Due to this, they may face serious diease in future. Along with this, senior citizens with diabetes and kidney related diseases are suffering a lot.”

Finally, Ulwekar’s are feeling blessed as CIDCO has taken notice of setting up public toilets in each sector at Ulwe node. Atul Shilwant is a senior journalist and social activist who has previously exposed some of the biggest financial scams in the state. He has played an important role in exposing the Mumbai Port Trust Hospital tender scam of worth more than Rs. 693 crore.
